This is my personal bass of choice.  The size of the body is much, much less bulky when compared to the Synapse bass guitar models (dont get me wrong, I'm not nockin' the synapse!).  The DB Tuner keeps the neck a playable size (not as wide as a 5 string) while still offering me the ability to play the guitar almost like it is a 5 string bass.

Pro's:

  1. Easy to tune
  2. Easy to handel (not bulky at all!)
  3. Plays very well
  4. DB Tuner is AMAZING

Con's:

  1. Only available in black right now :(
  2. The cord plug comes straight down out of the bottom (would be nice if it came out at an angle or perhaps straight out the back)
  3. The stock gig bag isn't very protective
  4. Basic EMG passive p'ups.  (their fine but love the active one more :)
  5. ...cant think of anything else

GREAT GUITAR!!!

Hi Tim,

I agree, it's a fine bass, but in fact áll Steinberger basses are fine basses.

But there's still one thing, and that's the question of balance. All models that don't have a pivotplate are a little neckheavy and the lower part of the neck is less easy to reach.

I found out that on the L & XL that this isn't a problem at all. Also the Synapse has bypassed this problem with it's "Straphook"

So, the XT-2DB is a fine guitar but still...

By the way, this de-tuner, I'm not sure what's wrong with it, but after 4 times toggling it back and fourth, it;s out of tune in my case.
