I have to admit, the GTPRO has definatly become a favorite. the only downer is that the tuning knobs are tough to turn but what an amazing little guitar!

Tim, IF you want the tuners to work, get yourself a small container of silicone grease. unscrew the tuners one by one, and take them all the way out. Stick the threaded end in the silicone grease, and re-install. You'll never complain about the tuners again! The other quick fix is to buy some Humbucking pickup springs from the S-M or other supply house. Put them under the pickup screws. You'll lose the rattles, and more importantly, you can get exactly the right height for the pickups. I have no problem with the select pickups. Rock on!

Hi Hallem... I just joined this forum 5 minutes ago and I have the exact same question as you have regarding the "big knob" - I purchased a GT-PRO several weeks ago as a travel guitar. I've certainly not been impressed with Steinberger (or whoever is producing this guitar) not taking the time to develop a owner manual specifically for the Spirit - and the Synapse manual that was included is poorly written as a guide. Looks like this forum may not help answer our question - but I'm going to find a guitar tech/pro shop that understands what makes the Steinberger tick. I'll post again once I get an answer or some response that makes sense to me! Raindog (Jeff)

Hallam... I think I figured it out - I believe the Big Knob allows you to raise/lower all strings equally. In other words, if you wanted to lower ALL strings 1/2 step - use the Big Knob instead of retuning each string. I can't think of any other use of this knob... Since your initial post is buried under another topic (tight tuners and using silicone to improve), I'm going to repost this as a new topic - but tomorrow. Raindog Jeff
