Turns out that the main difference is in that the GT-Pro Deluxe is neck thru and the regular GT-Pro is a bolt on neck. 

My preference?  Deluxe Neck-Thru.  Not a big deal but neck-thru is a nice comfort.

Im considering either the Spirit or the Synapse. It will be a travel guitar, ( on the road 15 days/mo ). Havent had a chance to play one yet. Is the $ 400 extra for a Synapse worth it? Are both Synapse & Spirit made in China?

I believe that they are actually both made in Korea now.  Personally I would recomend a ST-2FPA however, the Spirit is significantly smaller and easier to handel.

if this is going to be only for travel I would think that the spirit would be the best bet.
