Has the Synapse Demon has been cast out of Steinberger Fan-club Heaven? If it has, surely it's only because of its Gothic looks, because, in every other way it performs like its purist-appealing family. It sounds the same - angelic, versatile, quasi-acoustic. It transcales the same - baritone, tenor, everything in-between. Quality is the same - A1 for consistency, regardless of temperature and humidity. Structural strength: same. So why is the Demon demonised or, worse, treated with indifference? Remember, the original Steinberger looks were regarded as radical and still are today. The difference, ironically, is tradition. Minimalism has become the norm. The Maverick has become the Classic. So where does this leave the Demon with its wildly-winged embellishments? Forced to languish on backroom stock shelves or, at best, airplane cargo holds? In Guitar Purgatory. Is this fair? What do YOU think?

Darn! I repeated the word "has" after "Demon" in the opening sentence. Dummy!

By "transcales" I assume you  mean "transposes scale"? As to the Demon's appeal or lack of it, I would buy one if the price was right. But then I like gargoyles!

Agreed. I think the object lesson here is "Discount and/or discontinue.".
