The XT-2DB frame was chosen because of the DB tuner feature.  The GuitarSend XT-2DB is a 4 string Steinberger Spirit bass guitar that will offer better sound quality, body features and toneality than any of the new Synapse instruments currently offered by Gibson.

i'd personally love to see an instrument with way more graphite in it than the synapses. new fancy electronics are fine, but you just can't get a bass to sound like a steinberger without graphite!

Not a bad idea!  Dont think we can pull it off on a steinberger mod job but maybe if I talked to some luthiers we could actually try building a conceptual guitar with a graphite core...

Is this still on target for October 1st, 2009?  Is there any details on what mods to a XT-2DB will be made?  What is the expected price?

About the XT2DB Project...

Yes, we're still on target.  The mastermind behind the XT-2DBSteinberger Guitar modification is Tony Hajicek (who remains a little bit toobusy to pay attention to this site).  Tony has played Steinberger’s sincethe mid eighties and has a wealth of knowledge on these guitars, theircapabilities, how they compare against other brands and a ton of other greatinformation.  Although Tony plays a 1980's model XL2, He was very glad tobe involved in the XT2DB project.

Price

We are getting pretty excited about the release of the guitar, and asfar as price goes we are hoping to be pretty affordable for what we have tooffer.  Too early to tell accurately what the price will be but so far agood estimate would be $699.00  we areactually accepting pre-release order starting this month and expect to be soldout possibly before the guitar is even released

Collectability

Not only are we interested in keeping the price low but we are alsogoing to help protect your investment by limiting how many of these guitars aremade.  Prior to the release we will bespecifying the exact amount of these models to be released.  This will create a higher resale value forthe guitar and a certain collectability since each one will be serial numberedstarting out at 001 (serial # 001 has been purchased from Steinberger and iscurrently being modified).

I’ll be posting a pre-buy links later on today

Modifications we are planning

So far we are only planning on changing the electronics.  Tonyhas good taste and a ton of experience with different types of high end gear soHe's pretty much in charge of this area.  There will be activeelectronics, and possible a few other tweaks to the way the p'ups are set up.  More info to come very soon on this part ofthe project.

So, sorry for the super long answer, but there you have it!
